From Paris with LOVE – A Paris Post-Wedding Session

Remember Ana Paula & Nadjim’s epic Paris engagement session from 2011? It is my pleasure to photograph this Parisian couple again for their post-wedding portrait during my visit to Paris in April.

I’ve asked Nadjim to show me some very historic Parisian spots in the center of Paris, then he asked if I’m interested to see the area where Victor Hugo has lived in. Seriously, Victor Hugo’s residency, definitely a must see.  Our session started at Place des Vosges, the oldest square in Paris, lies at the heart of the fashionable Marais district and surrounded by art galleries and chic cafes.   Note to all the travelers, this is a wonderful place to relax and hang out, check out all the surrounding stone houses with doorways all open out to vaulted arcades.  One of my favorite musical “Les Miserable” by Victor Hugo was written at the number 6 Place des Vogues during the time he lived there from 1832 – 1848.  His house is now an admission free museum dedicated to the author’s life.

I’ve always have fascination of what it would be like living in a Castle.  Ana Paula & Nadjim has choosen Chateau de Rambouillet to be the destination for their post-wedding portrait session. This 17-century built castle is located about 30km away from Paris, best known for its gardens. It was once privately own by King Louis XVI which served as an extension as a hunting ground. Queen Marie-Antoinette who once accompanied her husband King Louis XVI on a a visit during the year of 1783, she did not enjoy the chateau very much and described it as “a gothic toadhouse!” Whatever, this Chateau is beautifully constructed and the garden is amazing. It is now served as a summer resident to the president of France. I was excited to be able to photograph at this location. FYI for all the brides, wedding & portrait photography permit is $100 euro. Need to speak french to the guard in order to purchase the permit, no photos permit inside the chateau. Many thanks to Nadjim who took care of all that.

We headed over to the most extravagant bridge in Paris – Pont Alexandre III.  This is probably one of the most famous bridge in France, and the most chic and lavish bridges I’ve ever seen.  It is such an elegant spot to view the Eiffel tower.  When the night falls, we headed to Tracadero to take a few more pictures there with Eiffel tower in the background.  Even in late April, the weather was still very cold, it was freezing temperature at night. I am feel extremely grateful that Ana Paula is being such a great sport being photographed in such harsh condition, also many thanks to Miss Hilary Chan who unconditionally came to help me with lighting for this session. Toward the end of the session, after Couple cups of hot chocolate and many many many plat du jour, with great laughs, endless funny stories to share & most importantly had a fabulous time to conclude the photoshoot.
