About this amazing location: within two hours of drive from Shanghai, the province of JiangShu 江苏 is known as the Venice of the orient.  In this province, a picturesque ancient water town called “JinXi 锦溪” has history over a thousand year. Many buildings and bridges of this town were built back in the Ming & Qing Dynasties (1300-1600). For artists and poets across the nation, they will travel hundreds of miles to arrive to this town to take long vacation in the hope of searching for new inspirations;  This place also attracts many architects from the west to travel thousands of miles to live in this area and to study the structure of orient styles buildings, bridges and way of local lives.  This place to me brings us back in the ancient dynasty era and I think it’s perfect for Alexia & Niko’s editorial engagement shoot.

Jeremy & I both enjoyed photographing this lovely couple – Anna & Parry from Hong Kong in Paris France.  During the session, we started out shooting at our vacation rental Villa Picasso where we stayed for almost 10 days from attending my mentor – Scott Robert International Workshop to excel our skill levels in photography. This beautiful house is called Villa Picasso for the reason of the famous artist – Pablo Picasso was living right across from this window for a good 9 months. Can you believe that Pablo Picasso developed one of his major art piece from the cubism collection at his apartment right across from this window??!?  That’s why we were inspired to create a look of “young french artists’ life styles” for Anna & Parry’s engagement shoot. Later in the day, we went for a stroll near the Eiffel Tower, but as soon as we got to Trocadero, it started pouring heavy rain. Thank goodness the well prepared couple brought their umbrellas in great use as we continue to take pictures for them.  I think with the rain, it makes Paris, even more romantic & elegant at its own way.  I hope you enjoyed looking at these photographs and please let us know if you do LIKE them.

Lastly, we want to say Congratulations to Anna & Parry for your wedding in Hong Kong. May many more happy & precious memorable years to come. We are excited for your new journey together as husband & wife, best friends & soul mates for life.

Myself being quite a ‘fobby’ person, also being a wife of a typical Hong Kong guy (the “Je” of JeZa” – Mr. Jeremy Chan?! ), I always have deep fascination about all things HK (Hong Kong).  Earlier this year during their client consultation, meeting Carmen & Victor at a Hong Kong dessert cafe in San Mateo tells me instantly that I must photograph them to show their deep culture roots – a very vintage SF  x  HK style kinda engagement shoot, thus shooting in SF Chinatown it is.  From brainstorming, creating the concept, gathering looks, picking out outfits, makeup & hair, actual shooting & post-production, every step of the way I can’t tell you how much fun we had on this assignment.  I can’t wait til photographing their wedding day in less than two weeks!! Hope you enjoy looking at these pix as much as we enjoyed photographing them.
